What’s new in and around Morzine this Winter

As the autumn leaves change from golden to green, then the trees begin to be covered in snow, that can only mean one thing! In the words of John Snow ‘Winter Is Coming.’ This is always a very exciting time for Morzine and the surrounding resorts in the Portes du Soleil and this year in particular there are some awesome new developments we just can’t wait to tell you about.

Brand New Après Venues

You may have heard rumours that there’s a Folie Douce bar coming to Avoriaz this winter and we’re delighted to confirm that the rumours are true! Notorious for being the best place to party in any ski resort, we know this will be a game changer for the après scene in Morzine-Avoriaz… get ready to boogie through the afternoon after a glorious day on the slopes!

We’re also very much looking forward to the return of the Tibetan Café in Morzine town centre, which was sadly out of action last winter due to a fire at the start of the season. We can’t wait to see the improvements Tony has made when he opens again in December!

Ski Lift Developments

You may or may not be familiar with the rather slow three-man Lechere chairlift in Lindrets. Well, you’ll be thrilled to know that this has now been replaced with a much faster six-man, providing slick and easy access to the bottom of the Mossettes chairlift, which takes you into Switzerland.

The second lift that has had a notable upgrade is the Foilleuse chairlift in Morgins, which dramatically improves the link between the Swiss resorts in the Portes du Soleil. Skiing the full circuit of all twelve resorts has never been easier.

A New Ski School

This winter we’re excited to be working with a brand new snow sports school here in Morzine. Peak Snow Sports enjoy taking recreational skiers and transforming them into adventure seeking addicts. They offer ski school courses during the peak weeks and during the off peak weeks they run a great range of performance and weekend courses to maximise the quiet slopes and fantastic snow conditions.

Another Bus Route in Morzine

We have a great local ski bus service here which is completely free to use and makes moving between Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz nice and easy. This year there’s a brand new route coming up the Route des Nants in Morzine, which stops right outside our three lovely chalets!

Of course if you’re staying in one of our fully catered or luxury B&B chalets then you’ll have a driver on hand throughout the week to take you to and from the chalet, slopes and town. But it’s always good to have another option and great to see that the transport system is developing each winter here in Morzine.
