This month we were lucky enough to be invited on a two day wine tasting trip to Piedmont in Italy which is home to one of the most prestigious (albeit one of the smallest) wine producing regions in the world. This is definitely one of our favourite wine regions and we were so excited to be able to meet with the extremely passionate producers who work so hard to provide us with such a delicious range of wines!

We had a jam packed schedule and it all started at 5am on a cold Thursday morning in Morzine but within just a few hours we had arrived for our first cellar tour at Marchesi di Barolo and very quickly became completely engrossed in the fabulous world of Italian wine.

We visited five different producers across the two days and were treated to an extremely educational cellar tour at each. Of course the highlight was tasting all of the fabulous wines but we were also treated to some incredible meals that absolutely blew us away. First at Marchesi di Barolo in their private restaurant and the next day with Luca, the most charismatic producer we met from Produttori del Barbaresco, in his local trattoria. The simplicity of their dishes and the way the wine works with the rich Italian flavours is just magical!

The weather, the scenery, the people we met and the knowledge we gained about this rather complicated region were invaluable and truly unforgettable. If you want the whole story you’ll have to come and visit us during the winter in one of our fabulous catered chalets!
