5 Reasons why you should ski in Morzine this March or April
Every year we look forward to spring skiing! During March and April, Morzine and the surrounding towns of the Portes du Soleil transform from our regular ski resorts into a venue of crazy competitions, live music and a whole lot of fun! It may be the last two months of the season but there’s still plenty of time to make the most of the slopes and those bluebird days we dream about all year.
We know things are a little different this year but with or without ski lifts, there’s plenty of ways we can make the most of the mountains during the winter time. Be sure to take a look at our Covid Policy and Flexible Booking Terms so that you can book your spring ski holiday with absolute confidence!
Read on to find out 5 reasons to ski in Morzine this March or April…
No-one enjoys the hustle and bustle of crazy busy slopes and ridiculously long lift queues, which is another reason why spring is the perfect time to ski! Glide down quiet pistes at your leisure and embrace the feeling of having the mountain to yourselves.
If you’re looking to avoid the school holiday period then the first few weeks of March will be the best time for you to visit Morzine. These weeks tend to be much quieter than any week in February (and they’re also cheaper, which is another bonus!).
Winter tends to make another prominent reappearance towards the end of the season! Last year, the first week in March brought us a whopping 35cm of fresh snow and the following week was absolutely perfect, with a combination of bluebird skies and soft powder.
Skiing in Morzine in March or April means longer days… The lifts stay open later, you can enjoy more sun on the slopes and on your balcony once you arrive back at your accommodation. It also means you can have lunch on the mountain outdoors rather than inside where there may be limited seating. Take advantage of the great snow conditions, quieter slopes and topping up your tan with a Mutzig or two.
In 2018 the Happy Valley Banked Slalom took place right here in Avoriaz on April 13th. This crazy competition is the second edition of what is due to continue being a firm annual favourite.
The competition is usually open to all snowboarders who wish to race down Happy Valley at the top of the Cornebois chairlift.
Look out for similar competitions taking place in Morzine in March or April winter 2021.
With lots of bluebird days in store, April is the best month for events on and off the mountain. From the Portes du Soleil’s ‘children’s champion’ ski race, the Quicksilver Banked Slalom to beer and wine tasting in the surrounding towns of Morzine, there really is something for everyone to enjoy in the Spring.
