Pilates in Morzine – Georgie Kennington

by 19 January, 2021

Last time we caught up with Georgie Kennington about the benefits of Pilates and how it’s a great way to prepare our minds and bodies for our next ski holiday. This time we’re delighted to tell you that Georgie has recently opened a brand new Pilates studio in Morzine, open to all to who love to train with views of the mountains and alpine trees!

While the lifts are closed there are still lots of other things to do in Morzine; Pilates being one of our favourites! Georgie’s studio is the first Classical fully equipped Pilates Studio in Morzine. The equipment is made by Gratz Industries, shipped over from America and we’re very excited to give it a go.

Following the opening of Georgie’s Pilates studio in Morzine we asked her a few burning questions that we had.

Read on the find out what she said…

HoW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TEACHING PILATES?

I have been teaching mat work Pilates since 2010 and apparatus Pilates since 2011.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO TEACHING PILATES?

I fell in love with the method after just a few sessions. I was getting tension headaches and I remember on numerous occasions entering a class with a headache and leaving one without the headache. I love the rhythm and flow in a Pilates class while zoning into all the tiny details in the body to create optimum strength and flexibility. I just started to want to share this amazing feeling, and the idea of becoming a teacher became a reality about 2 years after my first class!

WHERE IS THE NEW pilates STUDIO in morzine LOCATED AND IS THERE PARKNG?

The new Pilates studio is on 14 route d’Avoriaz, Morzine, 74110 – there is plenty of parking and there is also 2 bus stops right outside. Very easy access from Morzine and Avoriaz to the studio!

What equipment do you have in the pilates studio?

I have Gratz Pilates equipment which is one of the best makers in the industry. The springs are strong and offer resistance in your workout. There will be two Reformers, a Cadillac, two Wunda chairs, additional chairs, barrels and lots of funky little pieces of kit to add something special to your work out!

DO YOU HAVE PRIVATE LESSONS AND CLASSES?

Yes, I will be offering 1-2-1s, Duo’s, Trios, group semi private classes up to 4 people and Tower unit classes up to 6 (Covid19 dependent) as well as my usual fun-packed mat work classes.

can anyone join the classes?

Absolutely – Pilates is for everyone, whether you are flexible or tight in your muscles, old or young, Pilates is for all!

do you do packages / block lessons?

Yes – I do blocks of 5 or 10 as well as one off classes for all the different types of classes; the more you purchase, the better the price!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO MY PILATES CLASS?

Bring yourself, a bottle of water, and comfy clothes to wear. It is not essential to bring your own mat or thin towel, but with everything going on with Covid, you might prefer having your own, along with any small pieces of apparatus (eg. Magic circle) you think you might want to bring.
